Don’t even ask me who this is.

 portrait

Yes, it’s yet another colour pencil portrait. Did I mention I hate drawing people? This just confirms it. I don’t understand how Sam can enjoy drawing people. This is probably the last colour pencil portrait I’m going to draw. If I can help it, I never want to draw another human ever again. (But obviously that’s just wishful thinking on my part. I’ll probably have to draw more later.)

And this was drawn this week. New paper! It’s too smooth though. Anyway, water marks (is that what they’re called?) on the background.

YES! I actually know when this was drawn. Cause it was drawn last week.

I totally messed up on the paper. So the vegetables/fruits look like they’re floating.

Again, I have nothing to say. Except I had no idea what I was drawing, so don’t ask me what that green thing is. Both of the green things. I’m clueless.

It’s a pumpkin if you can’t tell. Wait. Is it a pumpkin? I think it is. Sorry, I really have no knowledge of vegetables. I messed up on the pumpkin. Messed up big time. Didn’t know how to draw the seed part. And I accidentally made it too dark.

I think I messed up on the raddish. And the raddish’s shadows.

But I like the onion.

4-hour drawing #1

January 22, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I call these series of drawings my 4-hour drawings since I spend 4 hours to finish each of them. I admit, sometimes I take 3 hours for the easier drawings and 5 hours for the harder ones. But mostly, it’s done in four hours.

I know I call this post 4-hour drawing #1, but it’s not actually my first drawing of this ’series’. Cause I actually forgot to date them, which is why I forgot which ones I drew first and so on. So I’m going to randomly number them.

Anyway. This is a new style of watercolour painting for me. I used to do the blending kind of paintings, but now I’m doing the exxagerated kind of painting.

And I have to say. I can’t really sit there and draw for 4 hours. I’m usually at my limit at 3. So very often, I’d make some stupid, irreversible mistake. And leave watermarks everywhere. But I think my patience/concentration has been improving. At least I can concentrate for 3 and half hours now – if I like what I’m drawing. And yes, they’re all still life. And yes, I actually had the objects in front of me.

Green woman!

January 22, 2008 · 1 Comment

Here’s a drawing I did last year, copying some jewellery advertisement.

green woman

The pencil strokes are visible. Very visible. It wasn’t at first, but I got a little impatient and started using pencils with blunt tips and started to care less about the amount of pressure I was using. (I hated her for being so green.) Also, in my picture, I have a feeling that I made her look more oriental than she’s supposed to be. Ah well. The ear could be improved too, but I have no idea how to make it come out. It looks like a piece of cardboard.
